Fossil meal is the most commonly used filtration aid due to its great filtering properties and is composed of mineral residues from microscopic algae. It is a very light powder of white or pink color and has a wide range of porosity that allows to vary the filtration of wines by virtue of their glazing.
There are various types of fossil flour: roughing, clarifying and shining. It is distinguished, therefore, by its porosity (up to 93%), its low density (0.3 g/cm3) and the enormous development of its surface area (12/40 m2/g).
The flour filter with horizontal discs has the following technical characteristics: built in stainless steel AISI 304, manual discharge of the flour, internal filtration of the residue (external on request), stainless steel dosing pump with dosing pump and agitator, product pump in stainless steel.
